DC Clover’s 4-H Club- June 2014 Club of the Month
This month we would like to congratulate The DC Clovers 4-H Club on being awarded Nebraska’s Club of the Month in June. They have been very active in 2014 so far. The club started off the year in February by collecting new and gently used winter clothing and gear to be donated to the Open Door Mission in Omaha, NE for the homeless and needy. The DC Clovers collected over 60 items to be donated that day. In March, the club met at Care Corps in Fremont, a local homeless shelter, to lead several games of Bingo for the residents as part of Dodge County’s, Lend A Helping Hand Day. The 4-H’ers enjoyed meeting and getting to know the residents and staff and learning what life is like at the shelter. The club also met at the Fremont Rural Fire Station in March to talk with a local volunteer firefighter about fire safety. Volunteer firefighter, Curt Friedrick, met with all the members and discussed escape routes within their homes and what do in case of a fire. 4-H’ers also went on a tour of the fire station and a few members were able to try on the fire fighter’s gear. In April, the DC Clovers met and assembled May Day baskets to deliver to the Alzheimer patients living at Providence Place in Fremont. There, the members were able to deliver the baskets and talk with the residents about their 4-H Club and the projects and activities that they to get participate in. Now, the club is focusing on their club 4-H projects for the upcoming Dodge County Fair which includes fire safety. The DC Clovers are also planning on participating in the Dodge County Fair parade this year as well. The club plans to wrap up the year with their annual fall BBQ where they can kick back and have a little fun after a year full of many activities. The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska 4-H Ambassadors are proud to call the DC Clovers 4-H Club, Club of the Month for June 2014!
